A PREVIEW OF TRAMLINES 2018 - 10/07/2018
2018 brings the largest edition of Tramlines to date as they
return 10th year which is set to feature various stages which shall
incorporate music, comedy, cinema and with that, it’s biggest line-up yet.
Taking place from Friday 20th to Sunday 22nd,
the festival will be based at Hillsborough Park – a celebratory move which
shall mark the first ever Tramlines to be held on just one site with the park
having the huge capacity of 40,000 people as well as the space to home more
festival-style entertainment than ever before.
New additions to the festival include; a comedy stage, a
pop-up kids and family area, a stage programmed by the Sheffield Institution,
The Leadmill and local legend, Jon McClure (Reverend and the Makers) as well as
much more.
Organisers are trying their very best (and succeeding) to
make the 10th anniversary of the festival not only the most
memorable year but also a huge celebration of everything the Steel City has to
offer.
Since its inception in 2009, Tramlines ha continued to grow
and progress, the first major move came in 2015 when the festival doubled the
main stage capacity with the shift to Ponderosa Park which was followed by a
move out of the city centre into Sheffield’s parks which allowed the festival
to become an exclusively outdoor festival.
Over the years, The Libertines, Catfish and the Bottlemen.
Sister Sledge, The Charlatans, Public Enemy, Basement Jaxx, Dizzee Rascal, The
Coral, All Saints, Kano, Metronomy, The Cribs, Kelis, Primal Scream and Toots
and the Maytals are just a few of the big names to have graced the Tramlines
stage and this year is no different as they play host to the very best of
emerging talent, big names and international critically acclaimed artists.
There shall be a total of four stages, the Tramlines stage, T'other stage, the Library stage and the Leadmill Stage. During the day the Leadmill Stage shall play host
to those comedians at the festival and on the evenings shall see the line-up
curated by those at The Leadmill (Friday and Saturday) and on the Sunday, able
to be witnessed is the line-up given to us by ‘The Reverend’ Jon McClure – all of
which allows for yet another year of genre-busting acts.
More than just the music you can hope to hear from the likes
of The Stereophonics, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, Craig David’s TS5,
Clean Bandit, Blossoms, Milburn, Jake Bugg, Everything Everything, Tom Grennan
and many more aswell as the other entertainment, Tramlines are also offering
top-notch festival food.
With everything from vegan fast food to portable Sunday
dinners and award-winning pies & burgers the festival will now have more
food and drink traders than ever before which have all been carefully selected for
both quality and diversity. Available shall be on trend vegan fast food,
Yorkshire pudding wraps, Indian and Pakistani street food, kebabs and burgers
(with gluten free and possibly other allergy restrictive options).
Further on from food, the festival have launched a
celebratory Tramlines Ale and limited edition Henderson’s Relish. The IPA with
clean citrus tastes and a pop passionfruit was perfected by Abbeydale Brewery
is available by keg, cask, can across bars and independent bottle shops
throughout the Steel City and nationwide. The Relish comes from a partnership
with Henderson’s Relish through which the proceeds shall be given to those living
in the city who are going through crisis.
Tickets for the festival (both regular and VIP) can be purchased here for the prices above. Tickets must be taken with yourself to Hillsborough Park so that they can be swapped for wristbands *which must be kept on for the entire weekend or entry will be refused*. Day tickets do not allow for a wristband.
Upon entry to the festival, you must not have any of the following on your person; alcohol (can be bought on site), drugs, BBQs, tables, chairs, firearms, fireworks, weapons of any sort, animals and bags bigger than A4.
There are free cash points located around the park which will be available for use everyday.

West Gate, Hillsborough Park, Middlewood Road, Sheffield, S6 4HA
On Friday, gates open at 3pm with the last queue entry at 7:30pm as gates close at 8pm.
On Saturday, gates open at 12pm with the last queue entry at 7:30pm as gates close at 8pm.
On Sundsy, gates open at 12pm with the last queue entry at 7:30pm as gates open at 8pm.
