TRAMLINES 2019 TOP PICKS - 17/07/2019


Tramlines Festival is now just a few days away so it is time to start planning who you will be seeing if you are hitting up the Sheffield based music festival.

70 musical acts will be taking to stages across the festival throughout the weekend as well as comedians on the Saturday and Sunday meaning there is a lot to choose from.

To help you make your decision on who to see at this year’s Tramlines Festival, I present my top picks for the weekend.

The Seamonsters – The Leadmill Live Stage – Friday

The Seamonsters are one of the first bands which are a project of the host city. Presenting a glitter-indie set driven by angelic vocals and 80’s inspired synths to The Leadmill Stage on Friday these girls are the band to see to get yourself in the mood for the Main Stage headliners of the day, Two Door Cinema Club. On at 16:15 till 16:45.

 


Easy Life - The Leadmill Live Stage - Friday

Hailing from Leicester, the quintet known as Easy Life are another band taking to The Leadmill Live stage on the Friday. Having just had their latest single 'Earth' named the Hottest Record in the World by fellow Tramlines Festival performer, DJ Annie Mac, it is clear that they are not ones to miss. Easy Life will be on from 17:15 to 18:00. 



Circa Waves – Nulty’s Main Stage – Friday

Circa Waves, a four-piece indie-rock outfit from Liverpool are another band set to take to the festival on the Friday as they hit up the festivals main stage. With a back catalogue full of Summery tunes such as T-Shirt Weather, they will have you feeling that Summer feeling no matter what the weather. On from 17:15 to 18:00.



Himalayas – The Library Stage (This Feeling and Scotts Present) – Friday

The Cardiff-based quartet will be bringing their indie-rock tones to Tramlines as they play The Library Stage on Friday on behalf of This Feeling and Scotts. They are the perfect way to kick-start your Tramlines, especially ahead of the main stage set by Manic Street Preachers. On at 19:15 till 20:00.



Casey Lowry – T’Other Stage – Saturday

Fresh off a support tour of Europe is indie guitar-pop musician, Casey Lowry. Coming from just down the road from the festival, the Chesterfield hailing singer songwriter will be bringing himself and his band to T’Other Stage on the Saturday of the festival. He will be taking to the stage from 13:30 till 14:00.


Anteros – T’Other Stage – Saturday

Showcasing their retro-tinged indie-pop on the Saturday is the London-based four-piece, Anteros. Taking to one of the larger stages of the festival, Anteros, will be gracing T’Other Stage of the Saturday to liven up the crowd for the day. They will be on from 14:30 to 15:00.




Children of the State – The Leadmill Live Stage – Saturday

Providing a bridge between Yorkshire and the Midlands is the quintet known as Children of the State. The band who are ‘aurally positioned between corrupt 70s glam and wistful electronic rock’ will be bring their live show to the Saturday of Tramlines as they play The Leadmill Live Stage. On from 16:30 to 17:00.

 


Sports Team – The Leadmill Live Stage – Saturday

The six-piece from London will be hitting up The Leadmill Live Stage on the Saturday. They swiftly made a name for themselves on the back of the visceral, erratic live shows, which has remained a hallmark. Sports Team will be taking to the stage from 18:30 till 19:00.



Jaws – The Leadmill Live Stage – Saturday

The trio from Birmingham who go by the name of Jaws are ones to get over to The Leadmill Live Stage for. Bringing their indie-rock sound to the Saturday of Tramlines, they are guaranteed to get you warmed up for those that follow. On from 19:30 to 20:15.



Shame – The Leadmill Live Stage – Saturday

The headliners of The Leadmill Live Stage on the Saturday of the festival are the South London hailing quintet. With their set probably being the heaviest scheduled for that stage on the Saturday, this band are one for those who love a post-punk vibe. On from 20:45 to 21:45.



Marsicans – Nulty’s Main Stage – Sunday

Coming to the Steel City from Leeds, Marsicans are one of the Sunday openers for the Main Stage. Their upbeat indie meets dirty pop sound is exactly what is needed to either get people through the last day of the festival or get them moving first thing. On from 14:45 to 15:15.

 


October Drift – The Library Stage – Sunday

Bringing their indie-rock sound up from the South of England are October Drift as they play the Sunday of the festival. The band who have become a major success story on the independent circuit will be hitting up The Library Stage from 16:45 to 17:15.



BlackWaters – The Library Stage – Sunday

Hitting up the festival in their adopted hometown are the Guildford originating quartet, Blackwaters. Playing The Library Stage alongside Yonaka, the boys of the band will be bringing indie-punk vibes to the Sunday of the festival. Blackwaters are on stage from 17:45 to 18:15.



Tom Grennan – T’Other Stage – Sunday

London based singer / songwriter returning to the festival this year as he moves up a stage is Tom Grennan. Making his debut appearance on T’Other Stage, now is the time to catch him before he potentially moves up to the next biggest stage – the main stage. On from 18:00 to 19:00.



Yonaka – The Library Stage – Sunday

The Brighton based quartet are bringing their dark alternative pop complete with heavy riffs to Sheffield as they headline The Library Stage on the last day of the festival. Having a reputation for their formidable live shows, Yonaka who are on from 19:45 to 20:30 are not one to miss.
